Research Areas

• A synthetic analogue of the ACTH fragment ACTH(4-10).
• Research has examined BDNF and TrkB expression in rat hippocampal tissue and cultured rat basal-forebrain astrocytes.
• In vitro studies have examined survival of cholinergic basal-forebrain neurons and choline acetyltransferase activity in dissociated cell culture.
• Rat global cerebral ischaemia models have been used to measure cortical nitric oxide production and neurological endpoints.
• Rodent behavioural models include the elevated plus maze and acetic-acid nociception tests.
• In vitro work has studied its interaction with copper-induced amyloid-beta aggregation in artificial membrane models.
• Its mechanism is not established. Proposed interactions with melanocortin receptors and enkephalinase remain unconfirmed.

Handling and Storage

Supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed vial. Store as stated above, protected from light and moisture, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Any reconstitution must take place in a controlled laboratory setting.
