Research Areas

• A small-molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), not a peptide.
• In vitro assays report low-micromolar IC₅₀ values and selectivity over related methyltransferases in the NAD⁺ salvage pathway.
• 3T3-L1 adipocyte cultures have been used to examine lipogenesis and intracellular 1-methylnicotinamide levels.
• Diet-induced obesity mouse models have measured body composition and metabolic markers.
• Muscle-injury and aged-mouse models have examined myoblast differentiation and fusion.
• Murine models in oncology research (including the HeyA8 ovarian cancer cell line) have also been used.
• No human clinical studies have been published, so the evidence is entirely preclinical.
